About Us

We are the Society of Holy Spirit Sisters residing at Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania, East Africa. Our Society started in september of 1964.  Our founder was Rev. Fr. Bernhard Bendel from Germany. We still maintain a Mother House in Germany where a few sisters reside.

Fr. Bendel was invited to Tanzania by the late Bishop Joseph Kilasara, who wanted him to introduce his community of sisters. They would teach young ladies and help them discern their vocation.

Two Sisters arrived in February 1964 and stayed in Moshi. Later they shifted to Rauya Moshi as our Regional Centre.
